Dusky Dancer (Argia translata)

Identification: Male- The adult male is dark on the thorax (dorsally) and abdomen with violet-blue eyes, it has blue encircling the leading edge of the center abdominal segments and then at S8 & S9 a blue wedge is introduced laterally. The immature male has similar patterns but is tannish brown with a split shoulder stripe.

The female is tannish brown on the thorax with a split shoulder stripe and has a dark abdomen again with light tan encircling the leading edge of the central segments and at the S8-S10 an alternating dark and tan striping pattern appears.
