Autumn Meadowhawk (Sympetrum vicinum)

Adult males have red abdomen, thorax brown with red wash to lower half, forehead red and legs yellowish-brown.
Adult females have reddish-brown abdomen, brown thorax and brownish-tan forehead with yellowish-brown legs.
Immature males and females are yellowish-tan on abdomen and thorax, with yellow-tan legs.
At all age groups a amber coloration can be found at the base of the wings.

The species is one of the last to be observed flying with dates into the late fall to early winter.
