Aurora Damsel (Chromagrion conditum)

Identification: When perched it is not unusual for this species to have its wings partially spread which will separate it from other damselflies except for spreadwings. Both sexes have wide irregular shaped black dorsal thorax stripes.

Male- note the blue sides to the thorax with yellow distinctly visible toward the first abdominal segments. The abdomens is black with blue rings on the leading edge of each segment until S8 & S9 which are blue dorsally and black ventrally. The eyes are blue and not eye spots are present.

Female- in the brown female, the sides of the thorax are yellow, the eyes are brown with no eyespots and the abdomen is black dorsally and tan ventrally.
