American Rubyspot (Hetaerina americana)

Identification: Male- note the red base for approximately 1/3 of the wing extending from the thorax, the metallic coppery green abdomen and the thorax which is variable from greenish-brown to metallic red.

Female- note the reddish amber base to the wings, the metallic coppery green thorax and the abdomen which is a metallic coppery color above and tan below.
