Amber-winged Spreadwing (Lestes eurinus)

Identification: Male- The dorsal side of the abdomen is metallic green color, the thorax is a mixture of green but with pruinosity it appears with blue hues also. The wings are amber tinted as the name would indicate. The paraprocts are short and not very obvious.

The below photographs are of a couple of individuals observed in Augusta County, Virginia in mid-July, 2008.

 

Note the short paraprocts
